The Women and Leadership Luncheon is organized for the purpose of providing information, resources, and networking opportunities for those interested in the topic of women and leadership. The organizers welcome scholars and practitioners who have conducted research and work related to women in leadership or who are interested in discussing possibilities for future collaboration around this topic. Attendees will sit at tables with others who are passionate about their specific areas of interest to have an engaging lunchtime conversation. 

This year we are pleased to welcome Mac-Jane Crayton, Ph.D. as our key-note speaker for the event.  Mac-Jane is the founder and executive director of Dream Mentorship, an organization that is passionate about accelerating mentorship opportunities for millions of women worldwide. They support the dreams of women by providing mentorship, education, resources, and seed funding needed to turn a dream into a reality.

Dr. Mac-Jane Crayton is a passionate advocate for social change and empowerment. Driven by her commitment to service, she founded Dream Mentorship, a nonprofit dedicated to providing accessible and affordable mentorship for every woman on the planet, helping them turn their dreams into reality. With a vision to uplift and inspire, Dr. Crayton’s work with Dream Mentorship embodies her enduring dedication to social innovation and community empowerment. 

As an Assistant Professor at Appalachian State University, dedicated to bridging the gap between theory and practice, she brings her value of empathy into the classroom, guiding students to become agents of change in their communities. With her unwavering commitment to service and innovation, Dr. Crayton continues to make a profound impact on the lives of others, one mentorship at a time.  

Beyond her scholarly pursuits, Dr. Crayton has a hidden talent that adds a splash of creativity to her life: braiding hair! When she’s not immersed in academia, you’ll often find her braiding her daughters’ hair or children of close family and friends, bringing joy and creativity into their lives. She is happily married with two daughters, ages 6 and 2, and finds joy in both her family and professional endeavors. 

With her infectious enthusiasm and creative flair, Dr. Crayton is not just a professor; she’s a mentor, advocate, and inspiration to all who know her.
