Grand Hall of the Canadian Museum of History
Join ILA colleagues from across the globe at the opening reception. Toast to the days ahead and enjoy locally themed appetizers as you stroll the spectacular Grand Hall at the Canadian Museum of History.
The Grand Hall offers an introduction to the history, cultures and beliefs of the First Peoples of Canada’s Pacific Coast. With its curving, six-story window wall with an unrivalled view of Parliament Hill, the Grand Hall is one of Canada’s most impressive indoor public spaces and the Museum’s architectural centerpiece.
Please be sure to be at The Canadian Museum of History by 18:00 for the opening reception. Museum admission is complimentary between 17:00 and 20:00 (our event ends at 19:30). Consider arriving early to check out the exhibits. Be sure to stop by registration (open 08:00 – 19:00) in the Shaw Centre and pick up your name badge for easy access to the opening reception. You can still attend the reception if you have not had a moment to pick up your name badge, but you will need to wait on queue as your name is checked against a roster.
Getting to the Museum: Buses will begin departing from the five ILA hotels promptly at 17:15 and continue looping throughout the evening. If you are a guest at the Les Suites you will need to walk next door to the Novotel for loading. Novotel, Westin, Lord Elgin, and Fairmont, gather in your hotel lobby. Look for yellow ILA hats for assistance loading. If you prefer to walk, there is a lovely pedestrian walkway adjacent to the Alexandra Bridge. Once you cross the bridge, follow the instructions on this PDF to locate the entrance of the museum.
